Congratulations to the 500th Owner in the South East Region
Maisie Kinchin has had an eventful few weeks. Not only has she moved into her lovely new apartment at the Churchill Retirement Living development Cornerway Lodge in Hindhead, but she has been honoured in a special presentation as Churchill's 500th buyer in their South East region. Mrs Kinchin received flowers and champagne from Churchill South East's Managing Director Ian Byers, who said: "I am delighted to welcome Mrs Kinchin to Cornerway Lodge as our 500th buyer. I am very glad to hear that she is settling in so well and I hope she is going to be very happy in her new retirement home.”
Mrs Kinchin was in fact the very first buyer to reserve at Cornerway Lodge, which is located between Hindhead and Grayshott. She previously lived in Midhurst, and tells the story of the journey that led to her new home. "Before my husband died two and half years ago, we had discussed that this was what we should do. We saw that some Churchill apartments were being built in Farnham, but didn't get round to going to see them, as we were going on holiday. However, a friend of ours had a look, and said they were really nice. It stayed in my mind, then one day I was driving through Grayshott, and saw they were building more apartments here. I thought, ooh, Churchill, they're good builders, and realised that it was the time to move.”
She exchanged a large chalet bungalow with a big garden which was becoming too much for her to manage, for an elegant and sunny two bedroom apartment with a wonderful view of the beautifully tended communal grounds that are such a feature of all Churchill developments. "Lovely,” she says, "especially when you don't have to pay for them or do any work in them!”
500th Customer she may be, but Maisie Kinchin is simply delighted to be in her new home with its spacious bright rooms, smart fitted kitchen and modern bathroom with walk-in shower. She has met the other Owners, noting that John, the Lodge Manager is very good at introducing people to one another. "We've had a coffee morning, even though there's only six of us at the moment, and in any case, I already know people in the area.” Her son and three daughters also all live fairly close by, and thoroughly approve of their mum's choice of home. Touchingly, she adds that: "they all say dad would have liked it too.”
Cornerway Lodge, in common with all Churchill developments, has a well-chosen location that is close to local services. The village centre of Grayshott is a few minutes' walk away, and the doctor's surgery is literally next door. Maisie has already timed her walk to buy a Sunday newspaper – just six minutes – and says that Cornerway Lodge compares very favourably to her previous home in terms of convenience. "Midhurst was not so easy, and that's one reason why I wanted to move. In that bad weather we had last winter I felt very isolated. Also, although I drive at the moment, I might not in a few years' time. But it won't matter, because everything's much easier here.”
As well as an excellent location, Cornerway Lodge has all the features that make Churchill Retirement Living such a good choice for those of retirement age. Owners at all the Lodges enjoy on-site benefits to enhance their lifestyles and personal security, including a Lodge Manager, a 24 hour emergency call service, and estate management to carry out chores like gardening and window cleaning.
