Churchill Retirement Living and Millstream Management Services celebrate raising over £57,500 for Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign

The Churchill Group is celebrating having raised over £57,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in the charity’s “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” campaign 2021.

Apartment Owners and Colleagues up and down the country took part by hosting coffee mornings, cake sales, bake-off competitions and raffles to help support the campaign. Some Colleagues even went the extra mile with personal challenges to boost the fundraising total, like the ‘Walking 9 to 5’ team from Churchill’s Ringwood and Exeter offices who raised over £2,000 by taking on a gruelling sponsored hike through the Wye Valley.

The Company also donated £5 for every new Customer who made an appointment to visit its Sales Offices at new developments across the country. Churchill has a special relationship with Macmillan Cancer Support and has now raised over £600,000 for the charity since 2009.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped to smash our fundraising target for this year’s “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” campaign.

Congratulations to Rosewood Court in Romford on raising the most for an individual development, with an impressive total of £2,600.

Other top fundraisers who deserve a special mention are:

  • Concorde Lodge in Bristol - £2,415
  • Gidea Lodge in Romford - £2,135
  • Greenacres Lodge in Warlingham - £1,672
  • Beatrice Lodge in Sittingbourne - £1,216
  • Chantry Lodge in Andover - £1,104
  • Hawthorn Lodge in Farnham - £1,000

Spencer McCarthy, Chairman & CEO of Churchill Retirement Living, said:

“It was great to be involved once again in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, and I’m very proud to have smashed our fundraising target for Macmillan. These events are a fantastic way to raise money for a very worthy cause but also an opportunity to bring our Lodges and the local community together after a difficult 18 months. We also had a handful of Colleagues taking on some impressive personal challenges to help us reach our target, so I’d like to thank everyone involved for helping us to raise such an impressive total yet again this year.”

Lisa Sainsbury, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said:

“Sadly, the number of people being diagnosed with cancer is increasing every year and that means Macmillan’s support for people living with cancer is in more demand than ever. At Macmillan, we know how cancer can affect everything. We’re here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, but we can't do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us, such as everyone at Churchill Retirement Living and Millstream Management Services. The money they have raised will help Macmillan do whatever it takes to make sure our vital support continues to be available.”
