Churchill Retirement Living raises funds for Age UK

Churchill Retirement Living, the UK’s fastest growing private retirement housebuilder, raised thousands of pounds for Age UK in support of the Charity’s winter fundraiser, Bobble Day and its Stock Appeal for the Charity’s shops during February.

Owners and staff at Churchill Retirement Living donned their woolly jumpers and enjoyed speciality teas, coffees and hot chocolates for the ‘Warming Morning’ fundraising events in aid of Age UK’s Bobble Day, raising a total of £4,303.42.

The money generated from Churchill Retirement Living’s Bobble Day fundraiser will go towards Age UK’s vital services helping older people keep warm and well in winter. These include winter benefit checks, handyperson services and practical advice, as well as hot nutritious meals at local lunch clubs, home visits and friendly telephone calls through befriending services for those who may feel isolated.

The Stock Appeal, which saw 37 of Churchill Retirement Living’s developments and offices contributing, raised £3,610 as a result of 361 bags of quality clothes and other pre-loved items being collected and donated to Age UK’s shops. Developments across the country as well as the firm’s head office took part in both Bobble Day and the stock collection to raise funds to help Age UK make winter a better season for older people. Activities that took place at their head office included a ‘how many woollies can you wear to work’ competition, a home-baked cookie contest and a raffle.

Spencer McCarthy, Chairman and Group Managing Director at Churchill Retirement Living, says: “Our support for Bobble Day and the Stock Appeal marked the first fundraising initiatives of the year in aid of Age UK.  We were delighted to take part and raise money for such an important cause.  At Churchill we strongly believe that we should all be able to enjoy good health and wellbeing later in life, and our support for Age UK complements our aims to provide a living environment where the older generation feel safe without the worry of keeping warm or being isolated.

Laurie Boult, Head of Fundraising at Age UK said: “All the funds raised by Churchill Retirement Living’s fantastic Bobble Day fundraising and Stock Appeal will go a long way to support Age UK’s vital work, helping to give everyone the chance to make the most of later life. We are really grateful to Churchill Retirement Living staff and customers for their support.”
