Friendship blossoms across the balcony at Hythe’s new Hubert Lodge development

The first new apartment Owners have settled into their new independent lifestyle at Churchill Retirement Living’s Hubert Lodge in Hythe, and their adjoining balconies have meant they can get to know each other while raising a toast to new friendships and fine weather.

Jan Sims was one of the first to move to the new development despite the national lockdown earlier this year. She says: “I'm really pleased with my apartment as it's sparkling clean and brand new, with lots of added extras and quality fittings. I particularly love my walk-in wardrobe as I can keep all my clothes, shoes and odds-and-ends completely out of sight, leaving me with a nice, tidy bedroom!  Churchill have thought of everything in the kitchen too, which is fitted out with all I need.

“I'd certainly recommend moving here to Hubert Lodge to anyone who's thinking about it.  I know that moving home seems pretty daunting, but Churchill were very helpful in arranging the sale of my old home and the purchase of this apartment. They also arranged all the packing and removals and even provided a friendly lady who was waiting at my apartment on moving day to help me unpack, which was wonderful!

“It takes a couple of weeks to get sorted out, but I've got absolutely no regrets that I've moved here as I'm very happy. I've got an easy-to-clean apartment, some new friends, security and I'm right in the centre of the village.  I'm really glad I made the move.”

Jan’s ‘balcony buddy’ Patrick Cook is another happy new member of the Hubert Lodge community, who adds: “We are a friendly bunch and that includes the Churchill and Millstream staff, Grada and Mel. To anyone who has made the decision that retirement living is for them and that the Hythe area is the right location, I would say they couldn’t do better than Hubert Lodge. The location is excellent with all amenities within walking distance, and where else can you take a short walk and hop on a ferry that takes you to the bottom of a main city high street (Southampton)? Moving is a big decision, but you won’t know what you’re missing unless you take the plunge, so go for it!”

Developments like Hubert Lodge have proven to be very safe places to live throughout the pandemic thanks to the excellent safety measures, the hard work of Lodge Managers like Mel, and the secure, self-contained nature of this type of accommodation. This has meant the rate of Covid-19 infections among Churchill Owners has remained less than a third of that seen across the wider UK population, and safety and wellbeing continues to be a top priority.

Hubert Lodge is located near the heart of Hythe close to shops and amenities and perfectly located for local transport links. The Lodge comprises 43 private, self-contained apartments with spacious rooms throughout, considerately designed with the over 60s in mind, and a warm, comfortable Owners’ Lounge where regular social events are starting up again in line with the latest Covid restrictions.
