Laura Farris MP joins Newbury retirees for Summer Garden Party

Local MP Laura Farris called by at Churchill Retirement Living’s Avonbank Lodge in Newbury on Wednesday 11th August to join apartment Owners and local people for a Summer Garden Party to celebrate the easing of Covid-19 restrictions.

Laura enjoyed a live music performance in the Lodge’s attractive communal grounds and tried some traditional ice cream while meeting the new apartment Owners and hearing about the new lifestyle they’re enjoying.

Laura said: “It was a pleasure to join staff and residents at Avonbank Lodge for their summer party. There was a wonderful sense of community and it was a joy to see everyone able to enjoy themselves together again after the last year.”

Churchill’s Regional Managing Director James Barnes said: “We were delighted that Laura was able to make time to join us for our Summer Garden Party at Avonbank Lodge and introduce herself to our Owners.  Now that we can enjoy the freedom to socialise outdoors again, events like this are the perfect opportunity for local people to come and see first-hand the fun and sociable lifestyle that comes with a new Churchill apartment.

“Our developments have proven to be very safe places to live throughout the pandemic thanks to the excellent work of our Lodge Managers and the secure, self-contained nature of this type of accommodation. This has meant the rate of Covid-19 infections among Churchill Owners has remained less than a third of that seen across the wider UK population, and safety and wellbeing continues to be a priority.”
