New Calne retirement development will be named Orchard Lodge

Ahead of its official launch this autumn, Churchill Retirement Living’s new development in Calne has been named Orchard Lodge in a nod to the site’s ancient heritage. The name was put forward by Sue Boddington, the Curator of Calne Heritage Centre, and Churchill made a £100 donation to the centre as a thank you for her help.

With the new development set to officially launch due later this year and already sparking plenty of interest from local people wanting to downsize and enjoy an independent lifestyle in the heart of Calne, Churchill is encouraging interested buyers to get in touch now to avoid disappointment.

Churchill’s Regional Marketing Manager Caroline Haswell said: “For every new Churchill development we like to choose a name with a connection to the local community. We spoke to Sue at the local Heritage Centre who told us that the name ‘The Pippin’ is likely to be derived from the fruit orchards grown in this spot centuries ago before the area was first developed. We therefore felt that Orchard Lodge was a fitting name for our new development. In return for the Sue’s help, we are pleased to be giving a donation to help maintain this important resource for the local community.”

Orchard Lodge is a collection of one and two bedroom retirement apartments designed exclusively for the over 60s, and available to reserve now. It will offer safe, low maintenance and independent living close to local shops and amenities. As with all Churchill Retirement Living developments, buyers will have the benefits of a communal Owners’ Lounge, a Guest Suite, a Lodge Manager, and a 24 hour emergency call alarm service.
