New Owners settle into life at Oscar Lodge, Aylesbury

Churchill Retirement Living has welcomed its first Owners at Oscar Lodge in Aylesbury, where a thriving community is starting to take shape. The age exclusive development on Cambridge Street has seen the first wave of Owners move into their brand new one and two bedroom apartments.

Among them are Anthony and Wendy Brittain, who moved with family in mind. “We relocated to be near our daughter and her family,” says Wendy. “We’d been pondering a move for a few years but it was our daughter who made it happen when she saw Oscar Lodge being built. She’s pleased to have us nearby, and we’re pleased to have made the move now, while we can make the most of it. It couldn’t be better!”

Anthony adds: “There are plenty of opportunities to socialise and keep ourselves busy. We do tai chi on Mondays, we have film nights in the Owners’ Lounge, and afternoons on the roof terrace when the weather’s nice.”

Kathleen Forrow is another who enjoys the social life at the Lodge. “We love it here,” she says. “We have nice get-togethers in the Owners’ Lounge all the time – including for my birthday recently. It’s the perfect space to host a party and a great way to entertain and get to know each other. Jackie our Lodge Manager is good at thinking up ways for us to meet up and have fun together.

I’ve never once thought ‘Did I do the right thing moving here?’ It’s wonderful, everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and we’re free to do what we enjoy. And I’m pleased to say my little dog Jane likes it here too!

For Chrissy Saunders life at Oscar Lodge feels like a holiday. “I was the very first to move in,” she says. “I was here for three days and then the rest of my new neighbours all started to join me. It’s great! I’ve been here two months and I still feel like I’m on holiday.”

Roger Axtell agrees: “I’m a big advocate of the Churchill lifestyle,” he says. “I proudly carry my Churchill branded shopping bag into town and I’m always telling people how great it is here. Moving house can be a scary process, but Churchill did everything to make it easy, like hooking us up with a specialist downsizing adviser called Michael. He was absolutely brilliant at helping us plan what to bring and what to leave behind, and giving us confidence that all the little details were covered.”

Oscar Lodge is located right in the heart of Aylesbury, close to the shops, restaurants, and other leisure activities on offer in the town centre, and perfectly located for local transport links. The Lodge comprises 49 private, self-contained apartments with spacious rooms throughout, considerately designed with the over 60s in mind, and a warm, comfortable Owners’ Lounge and stunning roof terrace which provide the perfect spaces to socialise.

The fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob and an oven, which is located at an easy-reach height. All of the properties benefit from subtle touches like easy-turn lever taps in both the kitchen and bathroom and illuminated light switches for added convenience. Owners also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system for the highest level of security and a 24 hour emergency call system. A dedicated Lodge Manager oversees the day-to-day running of the development.

With less to worry about, Owners will have more time to do the things they enjoy, like having family or friends to stay in the development’s well-appointed Guest Suite, enjoying a chat with neighbours, or attending one of the regular social events which take place in the Owners’ Lounge.
