Churchill Retirement Living raise thousands for Macmillan

Churchill Retirement Living, national retirement housebuilders with head offices based in Ringwood Hampshire, raised thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in September.

The retirement house builder launched a series of events throughout its developments to help the fight against cancer. Owners and guests raised £20,838 beating last year’s fundraising total by nearly £4,000.

The fundraising events continued throughout September at Dean Lodge in Southbourne with ‘The Big Little Bake Off’ where Owners had their baking skills tested by pupils from Buckholme Towers School and Nursery.

Spencer McCarthy, Chairman and Group Managing Director at Churchill Retirement Living, presented the cheque to Katie Blake, Area Fundraising Manager for Macmillan. He said: “We all know people who have been affected by cancer and have received wonderful care and support from Macmillan nurses. The World's Biggest Coffee Morning was a chance for everyone to show their appreciation.

“We have taken part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning since 2009 and due to the sad loss of one of our colleagues to cancer back in 2010, we decided to make Macmillan our corporate fundraising charity with the aim to raise as much money and awareness as possible. The Big Little Bake Off with the children from Buckholme Towers School was a great addition to our coffee morning events in 2013.”

Churchill Retirement Living donated £1 for every Owner plus a further £1 for every Owner who brought a friend as well as £5 for every visitor to the developments. Local businesses also donated raffle prizes.

Since starting to fundraise five years ago for Macmillan the company has raised a total of £217,458.10 with £76,971.30 generated as a direct result of their World's Biggest Coffee Morning events.
