Churchill Raises over £28,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support has been presented with a cheque for over £28,000 from Ringwood based retirement developer, Churchill Retirement Living, following a successful campaign to raise vital funds for the charity as part of its annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event.

This is the seventh year the company has raised money for Macmillan, and total contributions in that time now exceed £280,000. This year, Churchill staff at its six offices across the UK took part in a treasure hunt, paid for pizza and donated money to take part in a huge raffle with prizes from local businesses.

Meanwhile, owners at Churchill sites and those living in its specialist management company, Millstream Management Service’s developments, all came together to brew, bake, drink, eat and raffle their way to the total. Millstream developments alone raised a staggering £17,000 towards the final figure.

This week, Managing Director of Churchill Retirement Living, Clinton McCarthy, presented Macmillan with a cheque for £28,392.28 at the retirement developer's head office in Ringwood, Hampshire.

Clinton McCarthy comments: “This year we wanted to raise more money than ever before, which we’re delighted to say we have. Being able to present this cheque to Macmillan this week is a real pleasure as we know how vital such fundraising is to the work that they do. As a company we are very proud to support such a worthwhile charity.”

Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Hampshire, Alice Dewsnap-Smith from Macmillan Cancer Support added: “We are so grateful to Churchill Retirement Living for the hard work they put in to raise such a tremendous amount for Macmillan Cancer Support. They are top South West Region Coffee Morning Hosts!

“This donation could pay for one of our Macmillan nurses for over six months, who will provide vital practical, medical and emotional support. Sadly the number of people being diagnosed with cancer is increasing every year and that means Macmillan’s support is in more demand than ever, and we are so thankful for our fantastic partnership with Churchill, who are helping us be there for families when they need us most.”
