Construction workers show support for Macmillan

Charitable construction workers at Churchill Retirement Living’s new development in Dartford have raised more than £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support after hosting their own coffee morning on-site for the local community.

Site Managers Andy Hall and Nick Leeson arranged for tea, coffee, homemade cakes and bacon baps to be served at the site entrance to the new Keyes Lodge development on King Edward Avenue, which is currently under construction. People visited the stall throughout the morning and helped to raise £415.06 for the charity.

Churchill Retirement Living is currently building its new Keyes Lodge development in the town, which will comprise 68 purpose-built, privately-owned apartments exclusively for the over 60s.

Keyes Lodge Macmillan 2Nick Leeson, assistant site manager at Churchill Retirement Living, said: “We wanted to get involved in the local community and thought this would be an excellent opportunity to get to know people in the area, as well as raising money for a great cause. Everyone on-site got stuck in and we are really pleased to have raised such a nice sum of money to help Macmillan Cancer Support with all of the excellent work that they do.”

Anne Scherrer, Regional Marketing Manager at Churchill Retirement Living, said: “We were delighted to be involved in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning once again this year by hosting events at each of our Lodges across the region, so it was excellent that our team on-site in Dartford wanted to get involved too. They did a great job – there is a wonderful community spirit in the town and a fun morning was had by all.”

Keyes Lodge will comprise 68 private, self-contained apartments that are specially designed for the over 60s with features such as a video-entry system, lift to all floors, a 24 hour care and support system and a Lodge Manager. Communal facilities include an Owners’ Lounge, Guest Suite and landscaped gardens.

Like all Churchill Retirement Living Developments, the location has been chosen for convenience. It is close to shops and local amenities and is well served by public transport and provides sufficient parking.
