When FA Cup winning manager and football legend Lawrie McMenemy called into Churchill Retirement Living in Romsey to formally declare the brand new Abbey Lodge development open, 85 year old Jean Green was one of the first of the new Owners he met.
With General Election fever sweeping the media Jean proudly told Lawrie that over 20 of them have been held in her lifetime. “The first time I was really aware of politics was in 1940 when Winston Churchill became Prime Minister. Of course, he just took over without an Election but everyone was relieved he did so. People trusted him; he was reliable and knew they could count on him to make them safe.”
The new development provides 29 beautiful apartments, designed and created specifically to enhance the quality of life of those living there.
Says Lawrie: “It comes through loud and clear that people live here in beautiful conditions, great comfort and are confident of having quality independent and service readily available, After what Jean said about Churchill, I can see why they chose that name for the business.”
