Saffron Lodge Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Churchill Retirement Living’s Saffron Lodge development in Saffron Walden has celebrated its first birthday. Friends and families came along to join Owners in the celebrations with everyone enjoying a buffet lunch and live entertainment from local singer Julie Wisbeach who performed wartime songs and other favourites.

As one of the first owners to move to Saffron Lodge, Joy and Alan Stride were also celebrating their own one year anniversary of moving to the development.  Joy commented: “It’s beautiful here, I’m so glad we made the move. There’s such a lovely community and we’ve made lots of wonderful new friends. Our old house was just too big and we couldn’t manage the large garden.  Now we have lovely gardens to enjoy without having to do any of the work!”

The community atmosphere at Saffron Lodge is what has attracted many of the new purchasers.  Margaret Speed moved to the development in July 2014.  She said: “We all get on so well here, we have lots of laughs together which is what keeps us young!  It’s the community that makes it so lovely to live here.”

Patricia Antell moved to Saffron Lodge in May and attended the anniversary celebrations with her daughter Louise Storey, granddaughter and great-grandchildren.  She commented: “I’ve only been here a few weeks but I’m very happy I made the move and have no regrets at all, it’s given me a whole new lease of life.”  Daughter Louise added, “It’s given us great peace of mind that Mum is in a safe, secure and happy environment.  I couldn’t be happier about it.  I also think it’s lovely that Churchill are so welcoming of families at organised events like today.”

Yvette Christy, Marketing Executive for Churchill Retirement Living said: “Saffron Lodge has been an extremely popular development with purchasers attracted to its great location, range of amenities and community atmosphere. It already has a lively social scene in place with regular fish and chip evenings, coffee mornings, movie nights and afternoon teas organised by the Owners: all part of the lifestyle created by Churchill Retirement Living, which is proving so popular with independent older people.”

Located on Radwinter Road, Saffron Lodge is a collection of 31, one and two bedroom privately owned retirement apartments and shared facilities, designed exclusively for the over 60s. Offering quality retirement accommodation and safe and independent living, the development is in a convenient location close to local shops and amenities.
