Top Four Gardening Events this Summer

With summer around the corner, things are starting to hot up as people prepare to make the most of the garden. If, like them, you have a love of your garden and all the ways it can be enjoyed, then why not visit one of these top four gardening events this summer?

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Taking place on 24th - 28th May, this annual celebration of all things flowers is held in the Royal Hospital Chelsea, where it's had its home for over 100 years. Considered the pinnacle of the gardening calendar, Chelsea Flower Show sees visitors flock from all over the world. The show gardens are a spectacle of their own, but this year's show also has extras to commemorate the Queen's 90th birthday. A floral arch is planned, along with several photographic exhibits.

Phillip Johnson's poppies tribute will form the entrance to the show, while an acoustic garden inspired by Dame Evelyn Glennie will offer music to visitors.

The British Eccentrics Garden, the RHS Garden for Health, Happiness and Horticulture, and the Modern Apothecary Garden all feature in the line up for 2016, making this Chelsea Flower Show one you simply cannot miss.

Toby's Garden Festival - Bowood House

On the weekend of the 4th and 5th June, the second Toby Buckland's Garden Festival opens at Bowood House. This event in the heart of the Cotswolds is ideal if you like your gardening shows with a bit of a festival vibe. Live music, local food, specialist nurseries and garden speakers will all come together over the two days to bring the garden to life.

Whether you're an enthusiastic gardener, or just take an interest in plants, you'll find something to suit you at this festival, which has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Hosted by horticulturist, writer and TV presenter Toby Buckland, this is an event that offers something a little different to the traditional gardening show, and makes for a great day out whatever your age.

GROW London

Hampstead Heath is home to GROW London, the contemporary garden and lifestyle fair. Taking place on 24th - 26th June, this garden show offers contemporary design and the best of horticulture in a show like no other. You'll get plenty of ideas on how you can transform your outdoor space, with over 100 exhibitors showing rare plants, flowers and outdoor furniture.

This gardening show with a twist also features GROW Living and GROW Gourmet, with artisan delicacies and contemporary crafts. There will be a lot on show to purchase, so you can buy everything you need to completely transform your outdoor space all from one show.

RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show

Between the 5th - 10th July, Hampton Court Palace opens its doors to one of the most spectacular gardening shows in the UK. The Butterfly Dome offers the opportunity for visitors to wander through thousands of free-flying butterflies, while the Show Gardens are set to offer more than ever before. The Capability Brown Gardens will celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Lancelot Brown, while the City Garden aims to show how you can really make the most of a small space.

The Floral Marquee has specialist nurseries and incredible displays such as the Festival of Roses. Celebrity gardeners will be offering demonstrations and there are plenty of shopping opportunities throughout the week, so you can make the most of what's on offer.

There are plenty more events going on throughout the summer and into the autumn that you can attend. Let us know which ones you visit and share your photos with us on our Facebook page or send them via Twitter @ChurchillRL
