The Show Complex at Alfred Lodge is now open for viewing. This retirement development of 26 apartments is situated in a quiet position adjacent to Bridport Millennium Green, yet well located for the bustling High Street. The town has recently been voted one of the Best Places to Live 2018 by the Sunday Times.

Standard features

All apartments at Churchill Retirement Living are completely self-contained with their own front door, providing you with privacy and peace and quiet when you want it.

There is a choice of one and two bedroom apartments and they may all vary slightly when it comes to dimensions and position of rooms.

Kitchens are tiled with colour-coordinated worktops, and come fully fitted with a waist-height oven, hob, hood and fridge/freezer. Most of our developments also have integral washer/dryers fitted in all apartments as standard.

Our standards

The master bedrooms have fitted mirror-front wardrobes as well as TV and telephone points, with even the smallest details considered.

The apartments come with tiled shower rooms as standard, while some of them have separate en-suites and cloakrooms as well – all designed for ease of use and with the needs of our customers in mind.

All apartments are stringently inspected by our Customer Services department to ensure they are handed over to the standard of finish and quality expected by our customers.

Carefully considered design

Our developments have been carefully designed to make life easier, leaving you free to enjoy your retirement. We always make sure our developments are well located for local shops and transport links.

We use the very latest construction materials, fixtures and fittings, for maximum energy efficiency and low utility bills. A lift is provided to all floors, so using the stairs whilst carrying heavy shopping isn't a chore.

Pat Howell

Pat Howell

Churchill Owner

"Just across the road we have a handy bus service and various shopping centres, other places of interest such as services museums and an outdoor outlet park which is a hive of activity.  As for me this is one long holiday, lovely walks, a long sea front, some places quiet and peaceful and others full of activity."

Churchill Owners

"The Owners' Lounge is comfortable and everywhere has wonderful fixtures and fittings. We’d seen other retirement developments but the care and attention to detail was nothing like what we saw here. We were so worried that it would be drab and uninspiring and it is quite the opposite – it's like being in a 5 star hotel!”

Looking for town centre location?

Alfred Lodge is a delightful development of 26 one and two bedroom retirement apartments in the beautiful West Dorset market town of Bridport. It is named after King Alfred the Great who created the ‘Burgh of Brydian’ establishing the town as a burgh in the 9th century. It features a spacious and contemporary Owners’ Lounge & Coffee Bar and a patio area within the secluded landscaped gardens for Owners to enjoy.

  • The town’s thriving high street is home to a number of independent family-run shops alongside some well known high street stores and comes alive every Wednesday and Saturday when the bustling street market comes to town.
  • Bridport also hosts monthly Farmers’, Craft and Vintage markets and five annual festivals including the entertaining Hat Festival, the Ropewalk Fair and Bridport Food Festival; a week-long celebration of local food.
  • Birdport was voted as one of the Best Places to Live by the Sunday Times lists for 2018, making it an ideal location to retire.
  • Classed as a Beacon Town, recognised for the high quality and variety of local food, you will find a wealth of award winning local food producers in and around the town and restaurants and pubs serving great British classics using some of the finest local ingredients and of course exceptional seafood.
  • The Arts Centre and Electric Palace present an exciting programme of film, theatre, music, comedy and dance, and the town is also home to some fabulous open parks including the Millennium Green and Borough Gardens.
  • The local area has a wealth of fascinating attractions, many of which celebrate the history and art influences in the town.
  • Take a tour of the historic Palmers Brewery, visit the beautiful Jacobean manor and gardens at Mapperton House or sample a glass of Furleigh fizz with a vineyard and winery tour at Furleigh Estate.
  • Bridport lies around a mile from the coast at West Bay, a charming fishing village on the famous Jurassic Coastline, with large stretches of shingle beaches either side of a small harbour with pleasure crafts and fishing boats.
  • The South West Coast Path, the longest National Trail in the country passes along the cliffs at West Bay and is perfect for an afternoon stroll, enjoying the far-reaching views across the Devon Coastline and observing the local wildlife.
