The development is well located for the main shopping area of Southbourne. Southbourne Grove is a traditional high street with some independent and individual shops including a bakery, a greengrocer, two butchers, a florist, hairdressing salons and a post office.

Leading from the Southbourne Grove Shops to the cliff top is Fisherman's Walk, a Green Flag Award winning woodland walk with a nature trail, woodland flowers and shrubs, a formal walled garden with ornamental pond, and a bandstand which is used for regular events that take place in the gardens throughout the year.

The Fisherman's Walk Cliff Railway, a funicular railway which runs between the cliff top coastal road and the promenade and the beach, provides very easy access to Southbourne's Blue Flag beach, from which it is possible to reach the beaches at Boscombe and Bournemouth.

Southbourne has cafes scattered around the area, offering plenty of choice to enjoy a morning coffee before a gentle stroll on the quiet beach.

There’s a winning combination of design and safety in both the kitchen and bathroom. Tiled and colour co-ordinated, it is specifically designed to give you convenience and peace of mind.

Kitchens are modern and pleasing to the eye with colour co-ordinated worktops with built in fridge and freezer. The oven is located at just the right height to save you bending down and there’s a separate ceramic hob and hood.

Selected apartments with en-suites have baths with a shower over, whilst other apartments have a shower room, all tastefully designed with our Customers’ needs in mind.

All apartments are inspected by our Customer Services Department to ensure they are handed over to the standard of finish and quality expected by our Customers.

Car Parking

There is no charge for parking but spaces are limited in our retirement developments and available on a 'first come, first served' basis. Visitors should only park if there are specially allocated visitors' spaces. If none are available then visitors may only pick up or drop off Owners and must park off site.

Guest Suite

A Guest Suite is provided for visiting relatives or friends and a charge is made for its use. Reservations are arranged via your Lodge Manager. Priority may be given to a visitor helping a sick Owner.


Most Lodges / Developments have communal laundry facilities, which are available to all Owners. The costs of running the laundry, including servicing and repairs, are paid for through the service charge.

Owners' Lounge

The Owners' Lounge is for the use of all Owners as a casual meeting place or for an organised event. It is also available for private hire by Owners, on payment of a fee which is placed in the Lodge / Development's trust account. Advance notice must be given to the Lodge Manager in order to make a booking.

Landscape Gardens

Each development is individually designed to blend comfortably with neighbouring properties. A great deal of importance is placed on the communal gardens, providing a welcome retreat for you, your family and friends.

Wellbeing Suite

The Wellbeing Suite provides hairdressing, beauty and treatment facilities conveniently within your Lodge. This is another added benefit when choosing to live in a Churchill Retirement development.
