About the role
We’re looking for a Structural Engineer to produce structural engineers’ calculations and construction drawings for CRL new build retirement housing apartment blocks and subsequent checking of proprietary items & site inspections to provide support to the team during the construction period.
Buildings range from 2-5 stories generally and consist load bearing masonry cross-wall construction with trussed rafter or concrete flat roofs and widespan concrete floors. Built on brownfield sites of varying complexity requiring considered engineering input regarding foundations and external retaining walls
Primarily you will produce structural designs & construction drawings for projects that are cost effective and fit for purpose, carry out monthly site inspections (full driving licence essential) and provide support and advice to the regional technical, construction and design teams, the Pre-Contracts Manager and regional Land Buyers.
Hours of work are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 5.00pm on Friday with one hour for lunch each day. The engineer is expected to be flexible in keeping with the responsibilities of the position which may include working additional unpaid hours at busy times.
You will have a relevant degree or equivalent and have circa 2/3 years proven experience ideally within the housing sector. You will have good technical knowledge with the ability to understand engineering principles and carry out calculations.
You must be able to demonstrate good time management, strong communication and organisation skills as well as the ability to work on your own initiative.
