You’ll enjoy the fizz in Bucks!
Buckinghamshire is one of the most attractive of the Home Counties, bordering on London. Good train links – and even the Tube – reach deep into Bucks, so days or evenings out in London are simplicity itself.
The county has no big, old cities, but plenty of fascinating history. Bletchley Park, home of the secret WWII codebreakers, Cliveden and Waddesdon Manor are among the many stately homes, and Pinewood Studios is the ‘home’ of the British film industry. Milton Keynes is the largest – and newest – town, while Amersham and Buckingham have some charming old shops and pubs.
The River Thames forms one of the country boundaries, with attractive towns like Marlow well worth a visit, and there is plenty of beautiful countryside to explore, especially in the Chiltern Hills. The Ridgeway long distance footpath offers gentle strolls as well as challenging walks.
All in all, Buckinghamshire is a great place to enjoy a happy, relaxing retirement.
