Local school children learn about site safety

Children from Frinton on Sea Primary School welcomed the construction team from Churchill Retirement Living’s Cooper Lodge into their school for a special site safety talk.

Contracts manager David Ryman and his trusty sidekick Ivor Goodsite visited the school to teach pupils all about safety on building sites, as well as giving an insight into the day-to-day activities on-site.

Tracey Caffull, executive headteacher at Frinton on Sea Primary School, said:

We are extremely grateful to Churchill Retirement Living for visiting the school to give a talk during assembly time – it was a great opportunity for the children to discover what the workers do on site each day and to ask the builders lots of questions. They all enjoyed meeting Ivor especially, and it might have even inspired some of them to consider a career in construction when they grow up!

David Ryman, contracts manager at Churchill Retirement Living, said: “It’s so important for children to understand the dangers of playing on building sites so we were pleased that the school were happy for us to pay them a visit. It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic they were learning about how we build the retirement Lodges and how excited they were to see Ivor!”
