Fun and games for local pupils at Huntingdon retirement development

Pupils from Stukeley Meadows Primary School in Huntingdon visited Churchill Retirement Living’s Moorhouse Lodge on Edison Bell Way to learn about toys from the past with the Owners.

Children joined the Owners in the Lodge’s communal lounge to learn about famous toys from the 1940s and 1950s as part of their ‘Toys from the past’ history topic. The visit, which took place on World Book Day, marks the ongoing partnership between Moorhouse Lodge and Stukeley Meadows Primary School, as Churchill looks to build community links and connect the generations in Huntingdon.

Teacher Mrs Hunt said:

The children were so excited at the opportunity to visit everyone at Moorhouse Lodge and they thoroughly enjoyed it. It was lovely to see the children learning about all of the games from when the Owners were younger, their favourite was definitely the paper aeroplanes. We’re so grateful for Churchill Retirement Living for inviting us, and we look forward to planning our next visit.

Andrew Seymour, Lodge Manager at Moorhouse Lodge, said:

We really enjoyed the visit from the children. The Owners really enjoy getting involved with events like this, and it’s one of the many different community events and social activities that take place in our friendly Owners’ Lounge. We’ll look forward to welcoming the children back again soon.

Moorhouse Lodge comprises 47 one and two bedroom privately owned retirement apartments and shared facilities, designed exclusively for the over 60s. Apartments have spacious rooms throughout and are an ideal combination of design and functionality. Owners also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system for security, and a 24 hour emergency call system.

With less to worry about, Owners have more time to do the things they enjoy, like having family or friends to stay in the development’s well-appointed Guest Suite, enjoying a chat with neighbours in the landscaped gardens, or attending one of the regular social events, in the Owners’ Lounge.
