Carole Evans had plenty of preconceptions about the retirement living lifestyle, and she didn’t think it would be for her. However, after a visit to Churchill Retirement Living’s Stanley Lodge in Epsom, she discovered the reality with her own eyes and it was not at all what she had expected – it was much better!
Now Carole couldn’t be happier with her new lifestyle in a stylish new Churchill apartment, with a built in social life when she wants it, as well as privacy when she doesn’t. Most importantly of all, she is able to maintain her independence.
Explaining the thought process behind her move, she says: “I never thought I would live in a retirement apartment, but from the moment I stepped through the door into the Owners’ Lounge at Stanley Lodge I was hooked.
“Sally, the lovely non-pushy Sales Executive showed me the Show Apartment and then one with garden access, which soon became my new home. I loved it immediately. I have been here for three months now, and it is the best decision I could have made.
“I wanted neighbours and human contact after years of isolation. I have that now, from our kind and helpful Lodge Manager Linsey to the other apartment Owners. I have a feeling of community and wellbeing, plus independence which I needed.
“It really is easy living – the apartments are designed with soft close on so many things, and plugs at waist level. Plus, the shops, doctors and library are all within walking distance. I now don’t have to worry about maintenance and can enjoy life.
“The guidance and assistance I received throughout the moving process was amazing. Although I expected downsizing to be hard, it was the easiest move I ever made and I can’t thank the Churchill team enough for helping me into my new life.”
