New Lodge Named After Famous Local Tenterden Resident

Churchill Retirement Living has announced that they have named their brand-new retirement development in Tenterden, after a famous local resident.

Caxton Lodge pays tribute to William Caxton who was known to be a diplomat and writer, as well as being thought to be the first English retailer of printed books after bringing a printing press back to England in 1476. The apartments are currently under construction with plans for the first Owners to move in Spring 2024.

Caxton Lodge will consist of a collection of 53 one- and two-bedroom apartments boasting fully integrated kitchens, economical heating and an extra guest suite for visiting friends and family. Sitting opposite an area of outstanding natural beauty, the apartments also feature a secure camera entry system and a Lodge Manager available from Monday to Friday to give Owners that peace of mind. The lodge also benefits from an Owners’ Lounge with coffee bar leading out to a beautiful, landscaped garden.

Anne Scherrer, Regional Marketing Manager at Churchill Retirement Living South East, said: “It seemed fitting to name the lodge after William Caxton as he had such a strong connection with the town of Tenterden. Caxton Lodge is the perfect space for those retirees looking for an active lifestyle with a stunning location and the apartments themselves offering an independent, low-maintenance lifestyle. We urge anyone interested to register their interest now to be one of the first to hear any updates on the lodge.”

Tenterden has something for everyone nearby with the tree-lined high street filled with plenty of shops and amenities to explore, from independent craft and book shops to big-name brand stores. For those who enjoy an active social life, residents can visit Chart Hills Golf Club just 20 minutes from the lodge or enjoy the historic museum at Smallhythe Place.  Residents looking for entertainment can also catch a show at the public theatre. Finally, the sweeping countryside of Tenterden are perfect for those who love an afternoon stroll.
