Pat Howell

"Just across the road we have a handy bus service and various shopping centres, other places of interest such as services museums and an outdoor outlet park which is a hive of activity.  As for me this is one long holiday, lovely walks, a long sea front, some places quiet and peaceful and others full of activity."

"Churchill is one of the only developers who will let you bring your pet so it’s a huge selling point. There are some rules – you have to have a ground floor apartment - which I wanted anyway, and you have to be responsible – which any animal lover and pet owner would be. I was delighted to find somewhere with such a good pet policy and Amber has settled in very nicely."

Great location for the capital

Orpington is a town within the London Borough of Bromley, forming the south eastern edge of Greater London within the boundary of Kent.

  • Shopping and leisure facilities are plentiful in Orpington, with the Walnuts Shopping Centre, a library, the state of the art Odeon cinema, and the Nugent Shopping Park providing a variety of shops. This is all in addition to the facilities in Orpington’s High Street. Orpington also has a number of supermarkets, including two superstores. A varied selection of leisure pursuits can be undertaken at The Walnuts Leisure Centre, which includes swimming pools, a gym, a multi-purpose sports hall and squash courts.
  • Also of historical interest is the Crofton Roman Villa, located near Orpington’s railway station and the parish church, All Saints Church, which pre-dates the Domesday Book.
  • Situated to the north of the town is Priory Gardens which has ornamental gardens and ponds and is home to a medieval “hall house” containing Bromley Museum. Slightly further out, towards the south of Orpington in Farnborough, is the High Elms Country Park Local Nature Reserve - 250 acres of countryside combined with a golf course and it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
  • Bromley is approximately five miles from Orpington and provides further leisure facilities still, which include a cinema and for theatre goers, The Churchill Theatre Bromley, featuring shows from a variety of genres.
  • Orpington benefits from good transport links, with trains from Orpington offering services to London’s Charing Cross, Cannon St. and Victoria stations, Tunbridge Wells, Hastings and Sevenoaks; whilst buses provide links to destinations such as Bromley, Chislehurst, Crystal Palace and Lewisham.
  • With a multitude of shopping and leisure facilities, as well as excellent transport link, Orpington is the perfect place to get the most out of your retirement.
